A dry atmosphere in a hospital is often the cause for complaints such as irritable throat and eyes, headaches and a lack of energy. These surroundings can also weaken a person’s defence against coughs and colds as the dry air sucks moisture from all sources including moisture from the body which protects people from the risk of infection.
Low relative humidity can also cause problems in the operating theatre where electrostatic shocks, present when rH levels drop below 40%, can have damaging effects on both patients and also have an effect on flammable anesthetic gases used during operations.
Both the effects of the drying of body tissue and the risk of electrostatic shocks can be eliminated by installing a humidity control system to maintain the rH level at between 50% - 60 %.
We offer systems that can be integrated into a hospital buildings air conditioning / handling duct work as well as wall mounted and mobile humidity systems.
