School Humidification Systems

Humidity Control for Schools

Controlling Humidity in Schools

As with offices, teachers, students and staff spend most of their time indoors in class rooms and offices, often with many people in relatively small rooms and with artificial heating and air conditioning systems.

It is vital that these rooms are kept in the best and most comfortable environment as possible to give the students and staff the highest level of comfort and health. Long periods of exposure to humidity levels can lead to people becoming tired and lethargic, effecting their performance, and learning while also becoming more susceptible to colds and viruses which leads to more absentees both in staff and students.

Low humidity is naturally created in wintertime by low outside temperatures, while heating the classrooms and offices dries the air even further. This not only reduces the humidity levels but also leads to a rise in the heating costs. Installing a humidification will not only maintain the correct humidity at between 40-60%, but also make the room feel warmer, meaning the heating system does not have to work so hard and reducing running costs.

The use of air conditioning in the summer months also dries the air out which lowers humidity. This low humidity leads to people experiencing dry skin and eyes and feeling dehydrated. By adding humidification, this again balances the environment and makes the room a lot more comfortable.

Problems caused by low humidity in schools:
  • Dry eyes & skin
  • Static build up
  • An increase in absence rate through colds and flu
  • Decrease in concentration and productivity
  • Increased tiredness
  • Dehydration
Advantages of humidification in schools:
  • Creates a warmer, more comfortable environment
  • Increase in productivity and concentration
  • Decrease in absentees through sickness
  • Increase in concentration
  • Decreased heating and ventilation costs
  • Fixed or mobile systems available
  • Low energy and running costs
  • Integration into building management systems
